Dear George,

I never had the pleasure of meeting you before you left.  I don't know your laugh, although I've heard stories about it.  I don't know your generous heart, but I've met many people who do.  What I do know is what you left behind.  I know two of your children Laura and Danny.  If they are any indication of the man you were I am sad for not having met you at least once.  They are two very special people who must have made you very proud.  From an outsider looking in…… All I have to say is "Well done George….Well Done."

The Big Top

The circus is in town.  They set the tent up in the Sunrise Mall parking lot today.  Circus Vargas will have be here from the 11th-15th.   After leaving Citrus Heights they will be visiting Roseville and setting up in the Galleria parking lot from the 18th-22nd.

Nut Tree

I have many fond memories of my Mom taking me to the Nut Tree when I was a kid.  

 It has changes quite a bit of the past few years but it's still a great place to take the family for a day trip or just a quick break on the way to the Bay Area.

Carmichael Food Truck Rally

What a great turn out for the Carmichael Park Rec Eat event at the Carmichael Park.

The weather was perfect for the large crowd that was able to relax in the shade while listening to some fantastic music and sample from the many food trucks.

Tower Bridge at Night

One of my favorite places to sit and relax is along the waterfront near the Embassy Suites.  It's such a great place to go and get away from all the stuff that builds up during the day.  Very relaxing. 

Kayaking Below the Rainbow Bridge

With the unofficial last day of summer upon us I thought I would spend some time enjoying the river.  I headed over to Negro Bar just below the Rainbow Bridge in Folsom.  

 This is a perfect spot for kayaking.  The water is protected from the wind and very calm.  Don't worry if you don't have a kayak, you can rent one at Negro Bar and enjoy a peaceful day on the river. 

Fireworks in Old Sacramento

The firework show that almost didn't happen.  We had been waiting for about an hour for the River Cats game to end so the firework show could start.  It's now the bottom of the ninth inning and all the gathered photographers are getting their cameras ready.  I've synced my drone to the GPS satellites.  

About that time we see 4 or 5 police cars headed into Old Sacramento with their lights and sirens blaring.  A fire truck pulls on to the Tower Bridge and stops.  Then a fire truck pulls up next to all the photographers, a few firemen get out and head down to the water.  Then…. the police helicopter starts flying over head.

Someone asked me if I would fly my drone with the helicopter overhead?  "No, I won't.  But I won't need to fly because I'm sure they won't shoot off the fireworks if the helicopter is flying."

It seems the a call came in that someone had fallen or jumped into the river up stream.  Luckily the fire department didn't find anything and about 20 minutes later the firework show started.

Sutter Street - Folsom

When you step onto Sutter Street in Folsom it's not hard to imagine the Pony Express galloping down the street during the late 1800's.  

Today it's a great place to grab a bite to eat, shop for antiques or maybe a unique work of art or jewelry.

 If you visit Sutter Street be sure to visit the Folsom History Museum and then swing by Snook's Candies for a sweet treat.  

Lake Tahoe - 15 Mile Hike

Our plan was to hike the Rubicon Trail on the western side of Lake Tahoe.  It's supposed to be a 13.2 mile hike along the shore and around Emerald Bay.  After getting lost a couple times it ended up being a 15.1 mile hike.  In all my trips to Tahoe I have never seen the water look so blue.  These pictures were taken with an iPhone 5.

Del Campo High School

Del Campo High School is one of two high schools in Fair Oaks.  The school was built in 1963 and has produced a number of famous alumni.
