You get a sense of how low the lake level is when viewed from above. Some of these shots seem like they were taken in Death Valley. Great video shot by Ed Daniels.

Rainbow Bridge - Folsom Built 1917
The Rainbow Bridge was built in 1917 to replace the smaller truss bridge that is just up stream. It's an icon in Folsom for its unique looks and for it's illegal jumping.
This fantastic video was filmed by Ed Daniels.

Kayaking Below the Rainbow Bridge
With the unofficial last day of summer upon us I thought I would spend some time enjoying the river. I headed over to Negro Bar just below the Rainbow Bridge in Folsom.
This is a perfect spot for kayaking. The water is protected from the wind and very calm. Don't worry if you don't have a kayak, you can rent one at Negro Bar and enjoy a peaceful day on the river.

Sutter Street - Folsom
When you step onto Sutter Street in Folsom it's not hard to imagine the Pony Express galloping down the street during the late 1800's.
Today it's a great place to grab a bite to eat, shop for antiques or maybe a unique work of art or jewelry.
If you visit Sutter Street be sure to visit the Folsom History Museum and then swing by Snook's Candies for a sweet treat.

Folsom Lake From 400 Feet Up
I'm often asked how high my Phantom Drone will fly. Legally I'm are only aloud to go up to 400 feet. According to the manual the range is about 300 meters (984 feet). I've heard stories online of flights close to 2,000 feet.
I thought I would take the drone out to Folsom Lake and show you what things look like at 400 feet. I stopped at 100, 200 and 300 feet on the way up just to give you a quick look.

Folsom and the Amgen Tour of California
What a fantastic day and perfect day for a bike race. Stage 2 of the Amgen Tour of California was in Folsom today. The racers began on Sutter Street and crossed the Rainbow Bridge on the beginning of their 12-mile time trial.
What a beautiful place to enjoy the day with a great friend and watch the bikes race by.
If you have never had the chance to walk across the old foot bridge in Folsom I would encourage to take a walk into the past. This bridge is well over 115 years old. I couldn't help but think what Folsom looked like in the late 1800's while walking across this piece of history.
What part of the Sacramento area would you like to see? Leave me a comment below, I'm always looking for new ideas.
